Scottish Country Dancing - it’s a fun, active way to spend an evening, dancing and socialising!

Here in Birmingham, we are fortunate to have several qualified teachers for our various classes, details of which you will find on the classes and workshops page. On other pages you can also find out about our events throughout the year, the activities of our demonstration team and about us generally, including our publications.

If you have any questions concerning Scottish Country Dancing or want to get more information, contact us.

So, why not join us? You can be assured of a friendly welcome!

Scottish dancing - CANCELLED

We regret that, following government advice, we have to let you know that all RSCDS Birmingham classes and events are cancelled until further notice. The committee are monitoring both RSCDS and national guidance, and will update you as and when we are able to resume.

A letter was sent to the membership in September 2020 about the ongoing situation - a copy of the letter can be downloaded here (PDF, 107KB)

During this time, every Wednesday evening at 19:00, the RSCDS is hosting a 30 minute online Scottish dance class on Zoom, with a different mystery teacher each week.

Links to recordings of previous classes can also be found on the RSCDS website.

The safety of all our dancers is our priority and we hope that everyone stays safe and we will see you all dancing again as soon as we are able to.

Core Dances for the 2019-20 season

Click here to find this year's list of Core Dances. These are used to encourage new and inexperienced dancers to learn some more well-known and popular dances, as well as introduce one or two new dances to our branch repertoire.

The branch will aim to ensure that all our dance programmes in the 2019-20 season include at least two core dances, and it would be great if other local groups would like to follow suit!
